This company can not be reading my meter-The I go through this with Lumbee River EMC everytime the weather changes from hot to cold or vice versa-I do not use my air conditioning nor do I uses my heat- I live in the cold in the winter and in the heat in the summer because I do not want my electricity bill to be high. I am tired of this!!!! I am going to get someone to do something about this Yesterday you had me with a credit balance of $25.00+ Saturday January 8th-Today, Sunday January 9th I have a credit balance of $15.37 -That is saying I am using $10.00 a day for electricity and I know that is a LIE!!!! -Īs stated I am living in the cold-not turning on my heat and you people are charging me for electricity I am not using-This is IT!!!! I am not using this amount of electricity that you are charging me. I am contacting the Utility Commission and the Better Business Bureau and then the news. I work Monday thru Friday and am not at home and cuts off all electricity from 5:30 am until I return at 6:00 pm Monday thru Friday. I do not use my heat in the downstairs area-I live in one room and the attached bathroom within my household. ![]() I am making a formal complaint to you and am contacting the utility commission-I am constantly living in the cold in my house keep from my electric bill being going up -but I now see that it does not matter because your company is charging me for electricity that I am not using each day.-This is not rightĪs stated before-I live in this house by myself-I do not cook-I only use my microwave and I do not use that often. ![]() There is no way that I am using the amount you are charging me worth of electricity each day, now-Nothing has changed within the past month for your company to now up my daily rate-I am living in the cold-I live by myself-I did not put up any Christmas Decoration and I was not at home from the 15th of December until January 31st-I was in New Jersey. I am also writing this to expose this unfair business practice as I know I am not the only one that this is happening to. Therefore I had to pay the $380 fee to switch to the conventional method of billing and I am writing this message in an effort to get the fee reimbursed/refunded to me. The prepaid program that Lumbee River EMC has is a complete scam as it was charging up to $15 a day in energy cost without showing any of my energy usage. There is no more risk to the business when they can just shut off electricity. I will state again that I do not believe that the credit inquiry is done appropriately, and making the customer pay a fee for having a lower credit score makes no sense. She called to harass me and intimidate me saying that the BBB will not have any legal jurisdiction and this is not how business should be done especially when energy is monopolized based on geographic location. I am rejecting this response because: ***** called to tell me the BBB responses will only go to her and they will not change the resolution of this complaint. They also mentioned that they tried to call me 1 time to give me this information without any email/voicemail or written communication. I asked them to put me in contact with their legal department and they failed to respond to my email communication. Hence, there is only 1 monopolized provider. My duke energy account history is up to date and paid in full and everything has been paid for the past 3 years, but I believe this is also a form of price gouging given the fact that I cannot simply choose my electric provider based on the house that I have chosen. Although they have the right to pull credit information, it must be consented to in writing in accordance with legal credit guidelines. ![]() When I spoke to the representative over the phone this morning at 7:26am, she mentioned that Lumbee River ran my credit score and will be adding on an additional fee of $350 plus another $100 to begin service.In the online application form, it clearly states the following: "All applications for service are subject to approval and/or credit check."Let me be clear, this is not written consent to pull any credit information whatsoever. Recently, I filled out the information to transfer service into my name for a rental house which already had Lumbee River service connected at the residence. ![]()
